Ok. There is a situation I have regarding some cats. The cats in the picture!
A couple of months ago, some friends (Ryan and Marshall) of a friend (Amber) were being evicted from their apartment because of their animals. They had too many, they weren’t paying their rent, etc. Now, R & M could find some couches to crash on while they looked for a new apartment, but their 3 cats couldn’t (2 females and 1 male). Amber put out a beacon asking anyone if they could help out. I have a bleeding heart for cats in trouble, so I agreed to take 2 of them until they found a new place to live, which shouldn’t have been very long considering at that one of them was employed full-time. And at the time, so was I. Since we all lived in the same town, I didn’t think it would be too much of a problem. Sure, I took the risk of temporarily housing these cats without telling MY apartment complex because I was sure R & M would have been able to take them back before the manager caught onto me. I informed them that IF I got caught, they had to take the cats back or pay the fee that the apartment owner would charge me. They agreed.
Here’s where shit gets whacky. About two days into having them, I suspect one of them is pregnant. I asked the owners to confirm or deny, all I got was a “lolol I don’t know. Maybe?” Great. So, clearly, they’re not even fixed (and don’t get me started on how angry I was about that!). So, given their ages, I’m going to assume they aren’t vaccinated either, because when I asked for papers, they said that the cats “didn’t have any” (I have fostered cats before with no issues, which is why I always ask for this stuff). So, this pregnant cat (who is 13 years old) gives birth to a litter of ALL DEAD kittens in my bedroom (which was just really great for me); then a couple of days later, Ryan and Marshall decide to take a Greyhound and move to Seattle, leaving the cats here. This particular facet of the situation, I NEVER agreed to. They’re old (10 and 13) and cannot be separated (they have together all of their lives). They aren’t fixed, they aren’t vaccinated, but they ARE sweet and wonderful, personality-wise. They go in and out of heat (which is just awful), they piss all over my white curtains, they scratch the shit out of the corners of my walls even though there is a scratching post. I have, by and large, let all of this slide. Ryan and Marshall didn’t offer me any money for their general upkeep and still won’t agree to paying me back for all of the out-of pocket costs I have incurred (hi, food and litter, etc). Ooh, did I mention, that a few weeks after taking the cats, that I became unemployed?So, that happened. Now I CAN’T afford to keep them, even if I wanted to. Ryan and Marshall knew the day that I lost my job and still…are making a zero effort to remedy the situation.R & M like to go into “ignore mode” whenever I try to contact them about what the cats are doing, or when I try to ask them WHAT THEIR DAMN PLAN IS. I am losing patience. Yesterday, I told them that they had 30 days to arrange for the cats to be sent up to them in Seattle, or for somebody else to come take them off of my hands, locally. I finally got a reply; a vague, bitchy reply telling me to calm my tits and they they’ll ‘figure something out’ (which is the same line of bullshit I’ve been hearing since I took them in). I replied that they had 30 days, period, to carry out whatever their plans were.Back into ‘ignore mode’ after I keep texting them about it a few times.Some part of me thinks that they really don’t care about these animals, because initially, if I hadn’t taken them, Ryan and Marshall WERE going to take them to a shelter/pound. Because I did not agree to be an executioner or an arbiter for their execution. I cannot, personally, take them down there to have this done; and it’s NOT my responsibility (also, can’t drive! don’t have a car! don’t have the money for the procedure!)But I have no other leverage. If I don’t get rid of them, then I’M going to be evicted.Because if I tell them they have so much time to come get them, and then they don’t end up doing it, what could I use to motivate them? I can’t say “or else I take them to the pound” because I’m fairly certain they wouldn’t care and it would be one less thing for them to have to actually take responsibility for. It’s not my fucking job to do this for them, but what choice do I have? But they won’t, I’m sure. They haven’t take one single ounce of responsibility for these animals their entire lives, or they’d have gotten shots, been fixed, etc. And they especially passed the buck on their well-being as soon as I agreed to temporarily home them.So, here’s the deal: if these two idiots don’t do either of the 2 things that are required to keep these cats alive and well (which, I’m sure they won’t because they can’t even tie their own shoes), they’re going to be put down. Probe focuses on mom’s boyfriend in Saginaw Chippewa boy’s disappearance
Police investigating the mysterious disappearance of a 4-year-old Saginaw Chippewa boy say they’re now focusing on the child’s mother’s boyfriend. And the boyfriend is not cooperating.
Carnel Chamberlain, the missing child, disappeared Thursday night from his Tomah Road home east of Mt. Pleasant.
“The mother has been fully cooperative in this developing investigation,” said Tribal spokesman Frank Cloutier in a statement released Saturday morning. “The boyfriend, however, has not fully cooperated in the investigation thus far.”
Neither adult has been named by Tribal authorities. Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police now are calling Carnel’s disappearance from the Isabella Reservation “suspicious.” The FBI has joined the investigation.
A statement released early Saturday morning said investigators had a “person of interest” in mind, but did not identity that person. Felony crimes involving Native Americans committed on Indian reservations fall under federal jurisdiction.
The missing boy, Carnel Chamberlain, 4, is a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
“Their investigation moves forward from this point,” Cloutier said

The above article is an update. Her mother went to appeal to keep her out of the psychiatric ward and lost. She will be institutionalized because of her expression of her gender. She will be held until she conforms to male gender and then released to foster care, not her mother who was supporting her.

The North Carolina General Assembly has introduced a constitutional amendment to the North Carolina State Constitution which would “provide that marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State.”
Voting on the amendment is at the 2012 PRIMARY on MAY 8th, not in November.
Aside from the obvious discriminatory nature of the amendment, it is poorly worded and thought out and would harm the rights of ALL couples.
